This year's Goodwood Festival of Speed marked numerous key anniversaries : the Porsche 911's 50th, McLaren's 50th, Lamborghini's 50th, the WRC's 40th, Le Mans' 90th, and, in fact, the 20th anniversary from the Festival of Speed itself. These were marked with static displays and runs up Goodwood's hillclimb, or at its expanded rally stage. And inside the extra-special case from the Porsche 911, centre stage on Goodwood House's front lawn having a dramatic sculpture. The 20th anniversary Festival of Speed had perhaps one of the best-ever displays of contemporary supercars inside the Michelin Supercar Run, which included a record level of debuts on UK soil. Heading the bill in the Supercar Run was the planet dynamic debut from the McLaren P1. Also participating was the P1's rival from Stuttgart, the Porsche 918 Spyder, and it is rival that never was, the Jaguar C-X75. There have been notable first dynamic looks at Eric Clapton's Ferrari SP12 EC, the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Alfa Romeo 4C, while concept cars such as the Giugiaro Parcour, Peugeot Onyx, Jaguar Project 7, Renault Twin'Run and Volkswagen XL1 were also brought to life. Elsewhere in the Festival of Speed would be a celebration of land-speed-record cars, the typical array of pioneering early race cars, touring car icons, some great American racers, and grand prix cars through the entire ages right as much as the present day. Soapbox racing, probably the most popular elements of the Goodwood Festival of Speed between 2000 and 2004, also returned with demonstration runs in many of the competition's favourite past entrants. The typical array of rare and exotic metal could possibly be found over upon the lawn in the Cartier Style et Luxe concours. This year's entrants included 1960s style icons from Aston Martin and Ferrari, elegant pre-war classics, GTs coming from the 1950s, many of the most iconic Porsche 911s, and a few rarely seen concept cars from motor shows gone by.
